Dear PEN Brothers and Sisters,
In my time with the Lord this morning I was once again gripped by the urgency of the day in which we are living! I often wonder at the correct view of the unfolding of the last days, but no matter what angle you take it is hard to not see some of the recent happenings in light of prophecy. Just today British Prime Minister Gordon Brown made the statement calling for a new world order. They see the global financial crisis as a perfect opportunity to set up a new world order. Several world leaders are referring to our President elect as the new World President. (I am not making a political statement here). No matter what your views are I trust that you will agree with me that these are urgent days for the gospel. I know that we often face a number of roadblocks but I am always amazed at how many more open doors there are than time and finances to go thru. I really believe that we are seeing a new willingness to work together and an openness among the world to meet the real Jesus. We have our work cut out for us, however we also have the assurance that he will never call us to something He will not equip and empower us to complete! This is not the time to pull back but to push ahead with everything we have! There is coming a day when no man shall work! Full Steam Ahead Captain!!!!!
For those of you who were at our PEN eschool in August we now have the workshop from Tex Reardon up in MP3 format on our PEN website. Please click on this link to take you to the site. Sincerely,
Dallas Anderson Extend the Impact NGAs Extend the Impact Conference at Portland City Fest attracted more than 70 evangelists, ministry team members, pastors, and businessmen from around the world. The four day conference included sessions about the evolution of festival evangelism to the present Festival 2.0 Model, having a sustained festival year after year, and the impact of a festival on a city. Several workshops on the inner-workings of a festival were led by Luis Palau Association staff as well as NGA evangelists. The conference was a place for NGA evangelists, business leaders, and pastors to connect with one another, fostering possible new ministry partnerships. to Meet Fishers of Men The Steve Wingfield Evangelistic Association has scheduled a 2009 festival on Grand Manan Island located off the Coast of the Province of News Brunswick in Canada. There are 2,700 people on the island, and for the most part, they are all involved in the fishing industry. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have shared with the ministry their concern about drugs and alcohol usage that is causing havoc with the youth on the island. The Pastors are working hard along with key lay people to make a difference. There are a total of 17 churches on the island, and 16 have pledged their support to the "Festival on the Island." Communicating Christ to Younger Generations More than 120 ministry leaders recently gathered in Minneapolis and were given a challenge to rethink evangelism strategies to reach younger generations. "If you want to get people to be fired up about evangelism and if you want to reach young people, we have to think of the starting point of evangelism Instead of telling your story, listen to the cries of a broken world." Miles McPherson, Pastor of The Rock Church in San Diego, California. Recent statistics show that 88 percent of churched young adults leave the church after leaving home (Lifeway) and 61 percent of people in their 20s who were once churched are now disengaged (Barna). McPherson's church is an anomaly, thriving with 11,000 young worshippers in their teens, 20s, and 30s. McPherson referenced Exodus 3:7 by noting that God always sent His deliverers at the response of someone crying out. He encouraged the leaders to listen to the cries of the younger generation. Great Harvest in Ohio This fall YWAM campaigns are conducting a series of 60+ evangelistic events around the Dayton, Ohio region. Twenty-four cities came on board for these campaigns. We are now five weeks into the seven week tour and so far we have preached the gospel to 35,000 people & have seen nearly 4,700 individuals publicly respond to the Gospel! We have seen powerful things take place, with whole families coming to Christ at the altar calls. We have seen parents coming to Christ over the phone, as the Counselors do their follow up phone calls! We still have about twenty events to go & are trusting God that we will see more in the last three weeks than we saw in the first four. (Courtesy Marty Emmett, YWAM.
