A Letter from Lon Allison, Billy Graham Center Executive Director

PEN, the Proclamation Evangelism Network, was birthed in the first week of the new century. The Mission America Coalition was meeting in San Francisco. During a meal, a few of us gathered around a table to discuss the need of accelerating Proclamation evangelism in the churches of America. It was a great meeting. Out of that meeting and ensuing ones, came our purpose to, Proclaim Christ Publicly. Our vision was to see public preaching of the saving life of Christ offered in every town and city of America. A lofty vision to be sure, but even to repeat it now fuels me with energy.

For several years, the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College has chaired and directed the activities of the network, but always alongside other key partners. Together, we've held training seminars and conferences, written books, published articles and provided opportunities for evangelists and their teams to network and learn from one another. It's been a great ride for a decade!

Now, it is time for PEN to go to the next level. To lead us into this next decade, your PEN Executive Committee has unanimously asked Keith Cook, the founder and leader of "On the GO Ministries" to take over the reins of the network. Keith is one of the most gifted evangelists and leaders in America. As your outgoing chair, I can affirm that Keith is a force of nature for God. I can't wait to see the directions he'll call us to and the energy he'll provide. The Billy Graham Center will continue to sit at the PEN table. We're as committed to Proclamation Evangelism until Christ returns!

Finally, let me says a special thanks to Rev. Dallas Anderson who has for the last several years directed the executive committee and coordinated our training conferences. He has, as you know, served with great dedication and energy. Dallas is a great friend to us all.
Woe is me and woe is we (excuse the grammar) if I/we do not preach the gospel of Christ!
See you soon at a PEN event, and thanks for your prayer support during my years as your chairman.

Lon Allison
Executive Director

Dear PEN Colleagues,

These are exciting days to be in ministry together! As you know for the last several years I have had the privilege of helping to lead PEN. I am amazed as I have watched God at work in our midst. As you have read in Lon's previous note we are excited to welcome Keith Cook to the leadership helm of PEN.

I am so excited to see what God has in store for PEN. Keith is the ultimate team player with just the right mix of gifts to move PEN forward. We also officially welcome Nick Hall, Director of Pulse Outreach to the PEN Executive Committee.

We will stay deeply involved with PEN and look forward to working together to advance His Kingdom.

Blessings in Him,

Dallas Anderson

Your Prayers Are a Blessing and A Necessity

God answered our prayer to be present during the Melbourne Conferences for Ethnic Evangelism's conference and stir our hearts to the core. It reminded me of the two disciples on the road to Damascus who said, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?" (Luke 24:13-35).

God willing, my wife Dileeni and I will return to our homeland Sri Lanka in October. Please pray that God will prepare us as we plan on returning to Sri Lanka and for all the adjustment back to our troubled homeland. We pray the gospel of peace and hope will change our lives and those who heart it.

Jesus Strategy in Reaching Cities

Jesus was the consummate evangelist. He always employed strategies in His ministry that were effective and brought great results. One of the most unrecognized of these was His keys in winning cities. The results were amazing. In one city alone, He had to remain for three more days, because so many people believed. This article will take a look at three powerful accounts of Jesus winning cities.

It Is More Blessed to Give Than to Receive

In response to the current economic crisis, Daniel Southern has written an article entitled "It is More Blessed To Give Than To Recieve." Here are a few keypoints. "I have found that it is unusual to find ministries who give as much as they take. It is understandable that this occurs since we are all scrambling for resources, especially in this current economic environment, but the result will be to brand ourselves as "takers" and not "givers." I have made it a deliberate goal to give back as often as I can. I look for opportunities to invest in the lives of others; not just selling advice as a consultant but to extend my ministry through those with whom I interact."
