TRAIN leaders.

We discover, develop and deploy evangelism leaders through formal study, continual education and inentional mentoring.

The evangelism enterprise has multiple parts. Just as a large corporation accomplishes its mission by developing several different companies that function differently, so the church accomplishes its mission of evangelizing the world through multiple pursuits. We recognize at least seven different evangelism vocations in the global church today.

  • Local church evangelists

  • Proclamational evangelists (itinerate)

  • Executive evangelists (those called to evangelize and lead significant organizations)

  • Media evangelists (including Internet, print, and visual)

  • Cross-cultural evangelists (at home and abroad)

  • Scholar evangelists (practitioners and professors)

  • Paraorganizational evangelists (focusing on target groups like students, athletes, business people, etc.)

God is raising up evangelists in these sectors. Many of their needs for training and encouragement are the same. However, each requires special expertise. The BGC commits to offering the best in training. In some cases, the need is for formal or "degree" training.

In that case, our Master's degree in Evangelism and Spiritual Formation is the ticket. A future possibility is a doctoral level focus combining the best in evangelism, missiology, and Christian education. Such a degree would prepare practitioner-scholars to be "global" evangelists. The BGC collaboration with the Wheaton College Graduate School is positioned perfectly to offer such world-class training.

However, many called to evangelism need no further degrees. What they long for is informal ongoing training and mentoring to meet the needs of those already in professional ministry. At present, we are designing evangelism training focusing on the first four evangelism vocations mentioned above. As the years go by, we will seek the leading of Christ concerning the remaining vocations.
