Course on Islam
Roy Oksnevad, Director of Muslim Ministries at the BGC is teaching a seminar on Islam from January to May. The seminar is designed help Christians understand Islam. The 55 participants from churches and ministries in the greater Chicago area began the course learning about Muhammad and are working their way through Islamic culture and theology. Former Muslims who are now Christians help teach several sessions giving a perspective often lacking in traditional seminars. |
| Archives Treasures
The BGC Archives staff will host a specially designed seminar for a group of seniors from a local church on March 19. The event is an introduction to the history of evangelism and a hands-on experience with a wide range of historical documents from the Archives, including letters, audio tapes, videos, photographs, and even a phonograph record without the use of electricity. In the past, similar events have been designed for home-schooled children who have discovered treasures, such as:
-
the dynamics of "baseball evangelist" Billy Sunday
-
hear missionary martyr Jim Elliot preach on Jesus' miracle of feeding the 5,000
-
watch the early days of television in the first nationally broadcast evangelistic program
-
accompany former president Theodore Roosevelt to a ceremony at a school in Kenya
-
impact from Billy Graham's 1957 New York Crusade that lasted 3½ months
