BGC UPDATES
Museum Hosts Premiere Exhibit
Bound for Glory, a collection of
new artwork by calligrapher and illustrator,
Timothy R. Botts, is on
display in the Museum gallery now through September 8th.
The exhibit
is a collection of more than thirty works of art inspired by well-known
African-American spirituals. Botts says the pieces "celebrate the incredible
gift of music that African Americans gave to the church and to the whole world." |
Mission Rwanda
Executive Director Lon Allison and BGC Scholarship Coordinator Diane Garvin will accompany a group of ten leaders to Rwanda July 16-28. Lon will preach the gospel in a region-wide festival (estimating 10,000 in attendance). The team will meet with church and political leaders of Rwanda, and minister with the team in urban and rural settings. Ministries of compassion will accompany proclamation. They also go to learn from Rwandan Christians. The church in Rwanda today ministers reconciliation between man and man, at deep levels. The doctrine of forgiveness is theologically and organically understood in Rwanda. However, our visit to Rwanda is reciprocal. Our hosts in Rwanda will be invited to come to the US (probably greater Chicago area) and minister to us. |
